SKOKIE -- A 20-year-old Skokie man now faces four charges of attempted murder in connection with a shooting near downtown Skokie on June 14, police said Friday.

Alexander Soballe, of 4913 Louise Ave. Apt. 2C, was originally charged with four counts of felony aggravated discharge of a firearm. The charges were upgraded July 2 by a Cook County grand jury, police said.

Skokie police received a 911 call at 5:06 p.m. June 14 about shots being fired on the 4800 block of Oakton Street. Soballe, who was on foot, fired multiple shots from a pistol into a vehicle carrying three people westbound on Oakton Street, police said. No one in the car was wounded.

Soballe ran away southbound, police said.

Officers identified Soballe based on witness information, and he was arrested a short time later at his home, police said.

Soballe also faces two counts of misdemeanor aggravated assault stemming from an incident May 30 when he threatened two people with a baseball bat after a traffic dispute, police said.

Soballe’s next court hearing is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Monday at the Cook County courthouse in Skokie.

Soballe remains in custody at the Cook County Jail.
