MORTON GROVE — Despite a rainy and cool night, the Maine-Niles Association of Special Recreation (M-NASR) held its annual summer party for participants under tents at Harrer Park on Aug. 11.

M-NASR serves clients from Morton Grove, Skokie, Des Plaines, Golf, Lincolnwood, Niles and Park Ridge. The organization strives to improve the quality of life for special-needs children, teens and adults with physical, mental and emotional disabilities by providing therapeutic recreational programs.

Each participant received a T-shirt with this year’s theme, “Mighty M-NASR!” on it.

The event was underwritten by the Liponi Foundation, which was founded by Sam Liponi’s Estate. Liponi would make sizable donations to M-NASR, so the foundation’s only benefactor is M-NASR. The organization holds fundraisers through the year to help pay for the party and other M-NASR events.
