Schedule shines light on Greek culture

For the past four years, Skokie has focused on a different culture for several weeks toward the start of each year for its annual Coming Together in Skokie program. This year, the program focuses on Greek culture, and it runs from late January through March.

Events take place at the Lincolnwood Public Library, 4000 W. Pratt Ave., Lincolnwood; National Hellenic Museum, 333 N. Halsted St., Chicago; Niles North High School, 9800 Lawler Ave., Skokie; Niles West High School, 5701 Oakton St., Skokie; Oakton Community College, Des Plaines Campus, 1600 E. Golf Road, Des Plaines; Oakton Community College, Skokie Campus, 7701 N. Lincoln Ave., Skokie; Saint Haralambos Greek Orthodox Church, 7373 N. Caldwell Ave., Niles; Sanford-Brown College, 4930 Oakton St., Skokie; Schaefer’s Wines, Foods & Spirits, 9965 Gross Point Road, Skokie; Skokie Park District, Skokie Heritage Museum, 8031 Floral Ave., Skokie; Skokie Public Library, 5215 Oakton St., Skokie; and Skokie Village Hall, 5127 Oakton St., Skokie.

The program kicks off at 3 p.m. Jan. 27 at Niles West High School. Members of the Greek community will present a video, a skit, lively music and dances, as well as serve Greek appetizers. An art exhibit and refreshments will be available at 2 p.m.
