Terran Doehrer thinks Holiday Music with Jutta and the Hi-Dukes is perfect family entertainment.
“The band is a family,” said Doehrer, guitarist for the trio which includes his wife Jutta Distler on mandolin and their daughter Zoï on percussion. The Evanston residents will perform an eclectic seasonal concert, 2 to 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 9 at Morton Grove Public Library, 6140 Lincoln Ave.
“We are presenting a blend of Hanukkah and Christmas music done through an ethnic lens,” Doehrer said. “For instance we’ll do a Hanukkah song from Bosnia in Ladino. We try to get everybody to sing along on the chorus because it’s pretty simple and a lot of fun. Then we might follow it by a French-Medieval Christmas song, ‘Noel.’ The idea is to present a different kind of Christmas music experience.”
If there’s room, audience members are encouraged to dance. You can learn more about this group at www.facebook.com/hidukes.
