Downtown Skokie entertainment series kicks off Wednesday at Village Green

Downtown Skokie’s popular and free summer Wednesdays on the Green entertainment series will kick off next week with a Fiddle Night sponsored by Seman Violins.

Village Green is located between Skokie Village Hall and the Skokie Public Library in downtown Skokie.

The outdoor entertainment series offers a different attraction starting at 7 p.m. every Wednesday through Aug. 29.

The first Wednesday is devoted to music, the second Wednesday to dancing, the third Wednesday to family fun and the fourth Wednesday to classic cars and movies.

Following Fiddle Night June 6, Music on the Green will feature “Gorilla on the Green” July 3 (Tuesday because of the Fourth of July) and then musician Charlene Brooks Aug. 1.

Dancing on the Green will include Wednesday Night Fever( ’70s) June 13, I Want My MTV (’80s) July 11 and Decades of Dance (’50s to today) Aug. 8.

Family Fun on the Green will feature BritBeat June 20, Kaotic Drumline July 18 and Matt Wilhelm - BMX Bikes Aug. 15.

Classic Cars and Movies on the Green will feature showings of “Uncle Buck” June 27, “Sixteen Candles” July 25 and “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off” Aug. 22.
