20-year-old charged in Skokie shooting

A 20-year-old Skokie man who last month is alleged to have threatened two people with a baseball bat after a traffic dispute has been charged with the Thursday evening shooting on a busy street.
The shooting happened about 5 p.m. on Thursday in the 4800 block of Oakton Street in Skokie, a release from police said.
Alexander Soballe is alleged to have fired multiple shots from a semi-automatic pistol into a vehicle that was traveling west on Oakton Street, Skokie police said.
None of the three people in the vehicle were struck by the gunfire, police said. Soballe then is alleged to have fled the scene on foot southbound.
The shooting happened in the street just north of the Oakton Yellow Line station. The ensuing police investigation caused service on the Yellow Line to be temporarily suspended.
Officers responding to the scene were able to quickly identify a suspect based on information from witnesses. A short time later Soballe was found at his apartment in the 4900 block of Louise Avenue in Skokie, and placed under arrest.
The Skokie Fire Department responded to the scene for medical treatment of the victims but no injuries were reported at the scene.
Soballe was charged with four counts of felony aggravated discharge of a firearm.
Soballe has also been charged with two counts of misdemeanor aggravated assault, stemming from a previous incident which occurred on Wednesday, May 30, when he allegedly threatened two victims with a baseball bat after a traffic dispute.
A Cook County judge set bail at $250,000 for Soballe on Saturday, according to the Cook County Sheriff’s office.
