A Chicago man was being held without bail Friday for allegedly fatally shooting a Skokie man in January in Chicago’s Garfield Park community.

Desmond Young, 20, of the 4700 block of West Jackson Boulevard, was charged with one count of first-degree murder, police said Friday.

Young is accused of fatally shooting 44-year-old Olufeimi Abdulai at 12:25 p.m. on Jan. 6 in the 4400 block of West Monroe Street.

Abdulai, of the 8200 block of Keeler Avenue in Skokie, was pronounced dead about two hours later, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Cook County Judge Donald Panarese on Friday upheld a no-bond warrant for Young’s arrest, Cook County State’s Attorney’s office spokeswoman Tandra Simonton said. Young will be back in court July 5 for a preliminary hearing.
