SKOKIE — They came to create art in the grandest outdoor-art venue in Skokie.

Families arrived Aug. 19 at the Skokie Northshore Sculpture Park on a clear and pleasant late-summer day to make miniature sculptures amid the larger ones. Families worked with volunteers to create their works — this year with the theme being “Creepy-Crawly Critters!”

The free event provided children with art materials to make their own sculptures to take home.

The third annual Art in the Park event also featured the Music Institute of Chicago hosting an instrument petting zoo for children to sample different musical instruments. Teaming up with Dengeo’s restaurant, sculpture-park officials shared coupons for discounted lunch or dinner on the day of the event. Dengeo’s is located across the street from the park.
