SKOKIE — Police continue to search for a man believed to have attacked a woman outside her home before he took her vehicle.

The incident occurred about 12:20 p.m. Saturday on the 4800 block of Carol Street.

According to police, a 58-year-old woman was unloading groceries from her car when she was approached by a man.

The suspect is described as white, tall and skinny, between 25 and 30 years old dressed in a black jacket with a hood. He demanded the victim’s purse, police said, and when she refused, there was a struggle.

During the fight, the woman was cut on her back and hand by a sharp object, possibly a knife, police said. The victim was taken to Evanston Hospital with non life-threatening injuries and released.

The suspect left the area in the victim’s vehicle, a silver Toyota Highlander.

There were at least two witnesses, police said.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Skokie Police Department at (847) 982-5900.
