SKOKIE — A backpack valued at $40 — containing a wallet valued at $50 with cards and $4, clothes valued at $400, boxing gloves valued at $30, an iPod and accessory valued at $300 and vitamins — was stolen in an armed robbery between 1:17 a.m. and 1:19 a.m. Aug. 6 on the 8900 block of Lacrosse Avenue in Skokie.

Police said the victim parked his vehicle and was talking on his cell phone when someone approached him and demanded his belongings.

Police said the victim was pushed, causing his cell phone to fall. During the incident, police said, a serrated knife fell to the ground, allegedly from the suspect.

Police said both suspect and victim punched each other with closed fists, at which time the former grabbed the latter’s backpack and ran from the scene.

The case was still under investigation Tuesday.
